New Ark United Church of ChristAn "Open and Affirming" and "JustPeace" Congregation |
Ministry through Music |
|
| Music is regarded as important to the worship experience, involving the entire congregation
in singing hymns carefully chosen to correspond to the theme of the service; using the talents of instrumentalists
to provide periods of music for meditation or to set a mood; as well as anthems and service music provided by the
choir. There are no paid positions in the conduct of the music program. The role of the choir is to enhance worship rather than to stand out as a performing group. The choir sings for most services from September through June with special music provided by instrumentalists during summer months. Choir rehearsals generally are at 8:30 a.m. before worship and 5-6 p.m. Sunday afternoons. Both organ and piano are available for accompaniment. Occasional children's and pre-school choirs are formed for some special part in worship under the guidance of teachers in the Christian Education program. ![]() Rich Wildonger, Organist |
